THIS IS A SENSORY FRIENDLY PERFORMANCE

As part of our efforts to be more accessible, the Centre is offering this Sensory Friendly Performance (sometimes called a Relaxed Performance) – designed to make theatre spaces more welcoming for audience members who may experience anxiety, are sensory-sensitive, or are not comfortable with the conventions of a theatre setting.

Sensory-friendly performances benefit a wide variety of patrons, including those who are neurodiverse, pregnant people, nursing parents, seniors, people with service animals, or anyone who has sensitivity to stimuli.

The performance and cast will remain the same, however slight modifications will be made to adjust the sensory impacts of the performance. Some examples of the modifications of traditional house rules you could expect to see at a Sensory Friendly or Relaxed Performance:

• Lights over the audience (house lights) will not be turned off completely during the show;
• Adjustment of sound levels and music (lower volume);
• Reduction of loud and/or abrupt sounds;
• Reduction of flashing or strobe lights;
• Audience members are are permitted to stand, stretch, or leave at any time;
• Additional staff and information available for support before and during the performance.
